36e4cbc86a09d338c9b54bed3a0b98fdHow are you? I asked a friend in Manhattan. Oh, I’m just FINE, he said with a laugh—then proceeded to inform me that FINE was an anagram for Fuddled, Insecure, Neurotic and Egocentric. (Actually he used two hyphenated words for the ‘f,’ but I think I’ll leave what they are to your rich imagination.)

The fact is that almost every one of us is (or has been) fraught by a million insecurities—and who could blame us? Consider the world wars our species has endured, the concentration camps and gulags, the ugliness of misogyny and patriarchy that plague so many, in a nutshell, man’s inhumanity to man—all of which leave scars on the collective human psyche. Above all, consider our ephemeral nature, as fragile as a snowflake melting under a hot sun. No matter how big we are in the world, nothing can protect us from old age, sickness and death; yes, when Yama…

Keep the Flame of Your Love Burning: By Dr. Harsh K. Luthar

My dearest friends, even though prejudice, hatred, violence, and wars are embedded in world history, these have never been able to completely overshadow the enormous capacity many people have demonstrated in every age, to love, to nurture, to heal, to be peacemakers, and to forgive without reservation. Even when there is darkness all around, if one candle is lit, there is potential for other candles to be lit through it. That is the beauty of the Sangha. Be that Candle. Keep the flame of your love burning, so others can learn to love through you, and the light of wisdom and compassion will guide your way.

Spiritual Wisdom: By Dr. Harsh K. Luthar

IMG_7519

What is spiritual wisdom other than being gentle and easy with oneself and others in awareness?

Gain and loss, pain and pleasure, joy and sorrow, are threads of life.

Life lived in awareness is the only meditation.

Our talents and strengths do not raise us above anyone. Our shortcomings do not diminish our original nature. That is just how it is.

Sages see action and inaction, speech and silence to be the same. So there is no need to struggle.

To simply be aware of oneself as pure and clear being is the true meditation.

The steadiness of awareness and balance is a gift of grace. It is the blessing of love that springs forth from the heart of sages.

In the company of good and wise people who know the nature of reality, the ego gradually loses its hold and pure awareness reveals itself as the eternal presence.

That is the real meditation.

The True Master

it-will-be-ok-in-the-end

A True Master does not tell you to do this or that.

Already, you are bewildered going to motivational speakers, satsang teachers, and visiting one guru after another.

The Master simply brings attention to your nature as Being-Awareness, and invites you to rest in your own Heart.

It Is Just You!

Sri Ramana used to say that the Eternal Divine nature cannot be present at one time and absent at another.

So we must become aware of our Self in this present moment.

It is only in the present that the Self is Realized.

That is because the very nature of the Self is Pure Presence.

It is Pure Being.

Faith and Grace

Without faith one can never jump into the arms of the Divine Beloved.

We do not have enough personal strength to go into the unknown.

The personal identity cannot step into the unknown without faith.

To allow that final surrender to the Divine to take place is called Grace.

The Language Of Silence

silence-is-the-only-language

Bhagavan Sri Ramana used to say that the highest spiritual teaching and transmission is only in silence.

True Silence comes when there is complete surrender to God without any reservation.

Then there is no room for anxiety, worry, or any other mental noise.

In this sublime silence filled to the brim with peace and contentment, the fullness of awareness spontaneously reveals ItSelf as the Universal Intelligence.

It is the Pure Infinite Being whose very nature is Bliss.

It Is Only You

If with the mind, you look at the mind patiently, through the sorrows and tears, joys and laughter, the exaltation and humiliations, the lucky breaks and tragedies of your life, you will look through your mind.

You will find yourself as yourself as the very look itself.

And there will remain only this looking, this seeing, free from form.

it cannot be named. No one remains to name it. It is only you, in the pristine and ultimate nakedness of your being.

The Mother of all Chai: By Dr. Harsh K. Luthar

The Mother of All Chai

Harsha's avatarLuthar.com

This morning I skipped breakfast and made instead the “Mother of all Chai”, my special Vegan Chai recipe.

I grated fresh ginger root, grated fresh turmeric root, added five cinnamon sticks (maybe more) and a lot of whole black peppers as well as lot of Fennel seeds, Anise seeds, and Ajwain seeds. Not stopping there, I added many whole Cloves and Cardamom seeds.

The I put the mix in a large pot of water and brought the pot to a boil.

After letting it simmer on low for ten minutes, I added loose black Darjeeling tea to the mix and let it simmer for 5 more minutes.

Using a strainer to pour the liquid in my Chai mug, I added Soy milk and then sweetened the mixture with stevia.

Finally, I sat down and sipped the Chai slowly and watched as this magical potion gently energized me and made me…
