The Potency Of Silence

Silence is most powerful - Eden

Bhagavan Ramana used to say that the highest spiritual teaching and transmission is only in silence.

True Silence comes when there is complete surrender to God without any reservation. Then there is no room for anxiety, worry, or any other mental noise.

In this sublime silence filled to the brim with peace and contentment, the fullness of awareness spontaneously reveals ItSelf as the Universal Intelligence. The Pure Infinite Being whose nature is Bliss.

Silence is the only language

DRUGS, GUNS & SATSANGH

Great article from yogini mystic writer Mira Prahbu currently living near the holy hill of Arunachala.

Mira Prabhu's avatarmira prabhu

flightfoxcomIn the course of a fiery discussion on how so-called gurus milk unwary disciples of their money as well as precious intangibles, a friend mentioned that Papaji (a devotee of Ramana Maharshi who later became a guru in his own right) had bluntly prophesied that in the not-so-distant future, a lot of money would be made out of drugs, guns and satsangh.

Now drugs and guns have always been money-spinners for unscrupulous individuals who worship Mammon—but making money out of satsangh? And what does the word mean in the first place? Etymologically satsangh derives from two Sanskrit words: sat (ultimate truth) and sangha (the company of spiritual friends). It means a gathering of seekers whose primary interest is to awaken the divine within themselves—and who seek strength and support as they tread the tortuous yet amazing journey into inner space. Often gurus hold satsanghs for their followers, and today’s…

It Is Only You

If with the mind, you look at the mind patiently, through the sorrows and tears, joys and laughter, the exaltation and humiliations, the lucky breaks and tragedies of your life, you will look through your mind.

You will find yourself as yourself as the very look itself.

And there will remain only this looking, this seeing, free from form.

it cannot be named. No one remains to name it. It is only you, in the pristine and ultimate nakedness of your being.

The Looking

The Mother of all Chai: By Dr. Harsh K. Luthar

The Mother of All Chai

Harsha's avatarLuthar.com

This morning I skipped breakfast and made instead the “Mother of all Chai”, my special Vegan Chai recipe.

I grated fresh ginger root, grated fresh turmeric root, added five cinnamon sticks (maybe more) and a lot of whole black peppers as well as lot of Fennel seeds, Anise seeds, and Ajwain seeds. Not stopping there, I added many whole Cloves and Cardamom seeds.

The I put the mix in a large pot of water and brought the pot to a boil.

After letting it simmer on low for ten minutes, I added loose black Darjeeling tea to the mix and let it simmer for 5 more minutes.

Using a strainer to pour the liquid in my Chai mug, I added Soy milk and then sweetened the mixture with stevia.

Finally, I sat down and sipped the Chai slowly and watched as this magical potion gently energized me and made me…

Speaking of Robes, Broken Vows and Imperfection…

Insights on the human condition from yogini mystic writer Mira Prabhu

Mira Prabhu's avatarmira prabhu

1391429277When I moved to Dharamsala (seat of the Tibetan Government- in-Exile located in the foothills of the Himalayas) on the eve of the new millennium, my life changed overnight. You see, I had just left the world’s craziest city (Manhattan) for a small mountain town in northern India and was almost totally unprepared for what I was to encounter.

As my eyes opened to a new world of seeing, my views began to transform. For instance, I had long harbored a multitude of unchallenged assumptions about those who consciously enter the spiritual path; one such assumption was that all those who wore monastic robes were blessed creatures emanating love and light. After all, I subconsciously reasoned, most had taken the Boddhisattva Vow in one form or the other—which is to become enlightened for the sake of all beings—and which therefore meant they had to be perfect, right? RIGHT?

So I was both…

Analysis Of The Mind Or Transcendence? By Dr. Harsh K. Luthar

Analysis Of The Mind Or Transcendence?

Harsha's avatarLuthar.com

Bhagavan Ramana’s teaching of self-inquiry is fundamentally different than the schools of thought which focus on self-improvement through a variety of motivational approaches. Sri Ramana used to say that when you are going to throw out the trash, you need not spend time analyzing its contents. He was referring to the mind.

Ahimsa Is The Highest Virtue

Ahimsa Is The Highest Virtue

Harsha's avatarLuthar.com

No teaching higher than Self Realization

Ahimsa (nonviolence) is the primary ideal and the virtue to be cultivated on the yogic path to Self-Realization. This is a subtle, deep, and fundamental psychological and spiritual truth.

Why such an emphasis on Ahimsa by the sages?

It is because the perfect and calm state of relaxed awareness is only possible in a mind that is free of all violence.

It is in this state that Grace takes over and allows the pure devotee to surrender fully to God who sits in the Heart, as the Universal Heart, and recognize it to be the Self, one’s very own Self.

Editor’s note:

As you read this personal account by Poonja-ji, keep in mind the background and the context of the times of the year 1947 as India was getting ready to be split into two countries.
