A few of Harsha’s writings and responses to comments or questions have been organized and edited to cover the topics of Heart, Nirvikalpa Samadhi, and Self-Realization for easy access. The names of the questioners have been abbreviated to respect their privacy.

The Term Hridaya (Sanskrit for Heart)

We have all known each other since the beginning of time. That is why at some level we recognize each other.
Is it any wonder that this feeling overcomes that there is no choice but to love.
Within our human limitations and flaws, and despite them, the luster from the diamond of the Heart pours forth as all embracing consciousness. My teacher used to say that when two candle flames are joined, it is hard to tell which flame belongs to which candle, as it is the same fire. Love is the eternal flame.
I was remembering my teacher Chitrabhanuji yesterday and the time I spent with him in the late 1970s and the early 1980s. After a while, we were just friends. What would we do without teachers?
Ramana Maharshi once said that the Guru is unreal. The Heart manifests as the outer Guru. The outer Guru points to ones’ own Heart and instructs to look within.
It is only Love playing.
Love to all
Harsha
Dr. Arun Gandhi, grandson of Mahatma Gandhi and founder of the M.K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence, in his June 9 lecture at the University of Puerto Rico, shared the following story as an example of nonviolence in parenting:
“I was 16 years old and living with my parents at the institute my grandfather had founded 18 miles outside of Durban, South Africa, in the middle of the sugar plantations. We were deep in the country and had no neighbors, so my two sisters and I would always look forward to going to town to visit friends or go to the movies. One day, my father asked me to drive him to town for an all-day conference, and I jumped at the chance.

A weapon, howsoever powerful it may be,
can always be superseded by a superior one;
but no weapon can, however,
be superior to non-violence and love.
From a Jainist Prayer for Peace
One day on HarshaSatsangh, a very earnest and sincere devotee of Ramana Maharshi posted a message that there is only one way to realize the Truth — only through asking “Who Am I” as taught by Ramana. The following was Harsha’s encouraging reply. In this message Harsha shares how Ramana’s example and teachings were personally transformative for himself and encourages the process of self-inquiry in others.

The following prayers for healing and peace from different religions have been posted on the Advaitin, Vedanta, and RamaKrishna and HS. I don’t know who compiled these but thank you. These prayers can help us reflect on the essential message of the sages of universal love, compassion, and nonviolence in times of difficulty. Because many people are grieving in their own ways, these prayers may offer some consolation with their message of peace for the human spirit – Harsha
