sri-yantra-23.gif

Michael Bowes is well known to us as an authentic and genuine and a very experienced yogi and a devotee of Sri Bhagavan Ramana. Internationally, he is well travelled and has been to India. He has visited various Ashrams and Gurus and Swamis in both the U.S. and abroad.

Michael has an uncanny ability to see to the heart of the matter and his spiritual insights pierce through the veils of sentimentality and conceptual baggage. Michael is a long term member of the HarshaSatsangh community and his presence has been a gift.

Given below is a three part story from Michael about his visit to a Swami in India. This is Part I.

By Sri Michael Bowes

In the spring of 1992 I met a Swami who was making his first trip to the United States. By the time I met him he had been in the States for…

ALL IS ONE -Yet We Are Not Alone: By Michael Bowes

Harsha's avatarLuthar.com

By Michael Bowes

One can be certain that one is not alone in this world. As long as we consider ourselves to be a separate, limited, mortal individual in this sometimes bewildering existence, one can be certain that the presence and guidance of the true guru, the eternal guide, is always with us. That loving guide draws us to ItSelf just as the flowers attract the bees.

Have you noticed how persons use expressions similar to the following – “I said to myself”, “I thought to myself”, “I told myself”, “I asked myself”?
Who is the “I” that asks one’s self, who is the “I” that thinks to one’s self, who is the “I” that tells one’s self? And who is the “myself” that “I” tells?
These expressions and questions are subtle indications of the fractured nature of our existence; but they are also indications of the one who is…

Samsung Introduces Ultra Fast 60Ghz Wi-Fi Technology

Samsung announced today that it has developed the fastest Wi-Fi technology on the planet, five times faster than what currently exists today.

According to the Samsung announcement, the new 60 GHz Wi-fi technology will be integrated into its products by early next year.

“The 60 GHz Wi-Fi technology will enable a 1 gigabyte movie to be transferred between devices in less than three seconds while allowing uncompressed high-definition videos to be streamed in real time, the Suwon, South Korea-based company said in an e-mailed statement today. The technology removes the gap between theoretical and actual speeds, and exhibits actual speeds more than 10 times faster than with existing Wi-Fi technologies, it said.”

“Samsung has successfully overcome the barriers to the commercialization” of the 60 GHz Wi-Fi technology, Kim Chang Yong, head of a Samsung research-and-development center, said in the statement. “New and innovative changes await Samsung’s next-generation devices, while new possibilities have been opened up for the future development of Wi-Fi technology.”

Industry experts are of the view that this ultra fast Wi-Fi Technology is likely to be under the 802.11ad wireless protocol.

My comments: In my view, this ultra fast Wi-Fi technology will first be incorporated in Samsung smartphones and tablets, where Samsung is facing intense competition due to Apple introducing the large screen iPhones. It will be interesting to see the response from Apple, Microsoft, and Google in the coming week. Due to the ease of streaming this technology will allow, Netflix and others will be looking at the implications of  802.11ad wireless protocol for their business model.

Mother Divine: The Supreme Goddess

shak24

Harsha's avatarLuthar.com

When I was very young, my meditations made me soar so high that I was afraid of falling and felt anxious. In those moments the most gentle and angelic female presence firmly held me from behind and guided my flights over celestial regions like a mother showing a child how to ride a bicycle. It happened often.

This angel was always behind me at my back holding my shoulders in the most reassuring manner. Gliding over the heavenly realms of light with this divine companion was pure joy.  But I could never see her face and wondered who she was.

Who was this motherly angel who manifested in my meditations to protect me from fears? Who was this being that embraced me with such tenderness and silently guided and navigated the path?

This went on for many years. She was my guardian angel. Where she came from, I don’t know.

The Emergence of Dr. Yitang Zhang: By Dr. Harsh K. Luthar

Professor Zhang_2014

Yitang Zhang received his doctorate from Purdue University in 1991 in Math and could not find a teaching position. For many years, Dr. Zhang worked for Subway restaurant in an assistant role.

In 1999, 8 years after he had finished his Ph.D., Dr. Zhang found a teaching position as a lecturer in University of New Hampshire. Last year, this unknown mathematician stunned the academic world by proving “a landmark theorem in the distribution of prime numbers”, that had perplexed mathematicians for centuries.

This week (on September 17, 2014), Dr. Zhang was awarded $625,000 as part of the 2014 MacArthur “Genius” Fellows class.

Although Professor Zhang faced many hardships after getting his doctorate, he showed remarkable perseverance in remaining in the field of mathematics. Even as he worked in the Subway sandwich shops, he continued to dream that he would eventually find a job teaching mathematics.

Such extraordinary persistence that Dr. Zhang showed is only possible when one truly loves his or her field of study.

Congratulations to Professor Zhang! His example is an inspiration for students and professors in every field of study.

Satsang with Robert Adams: By Kheyala

Harsha's avatarLuthar.com

One of the first stops after leaving Colorado that my best friend and I took in our new home-on-wheels (“Lakshmi”) was in Sedona, AZ to go to satsang with Robert Adams. Many of you may know that Robert Adams (whose body died a few years ago) sat before Ramana for years in Tiruvannamalai.

We knew that Robert Adams was aging and that a special opportunity awaited us. Now, keep in mind that my conscious spiritual journey was rather new and I had previously immersed myself in the Satsang Mecca called Boulder.

I had really gotten a feeling for what satsang was “supposed to” look like and went to Robert Adams’ place fully armed with my finest “spiritual” clothing, “spiritual” face, “spiritual” voice, and “spiritual” sitting posture.

When we arrived, spiritually carrying our zaphus behind our hips in silence, heads held humbly down, we were quite surprised to find a room…

Enjoy what comes: By Dr. Harsh K. Luthar

Everything is changing and all things are transient.

Holding on to people, things, concepts, and situations is a recipe for suffering.

Enjoy what comes your way.

Let go when needed.

In embracing the love and beauty all around you, remember that everything is a reflection of the great beauty of your own eternal Heart.

Bhagavan Shrine at the NY Arunachala Ashram

We had visited the Arunachala Ashram in Nova Scotia, Canada, in the summer of 2013 and had very fond memories of that. We soon met and were greeted by some of the residents of the Ashram including Margo-ji, Ran-ji, Bandhu-ji, and Dennis-ji.

By Dr. Harsh K. Luthar

Dr. Luthar listening to a presentation

Religion and spirituality today are a big business. Generally the spiritual teachers, preachers, and the so called enlightened masters of the day are really motivational speakers and self styled self-help expert who are engaged in entrepreneurial ventures aimed at financial and commercial success.  Every year people spend billions of dollars buying the books, CDs, and self-help programs offered by such teachers.
